Firstly an apology for the delay in posting this. Second, and most importantly; THANK YOU.
Thank you to everyone that bought tickets and supported this wonderful event. With your help (ticket sales and extra on the night donations) we managed to raise over £1800 for 3 great charities: Macmillan , Cancer Research UK and St Luke’s Hospice Basildon.
If you missed it, well, you missed an absolutely cracking night!
Hosted by Susan Bannocks, the evening kicked off with music from The Satellites.
After a wonderful set by The Satellites the stage changed hands and was literally(!!) filed by The Cool Ukes, who did a fantastic job.
Whilst the stage changed hands for a final time, the audience were tasked to ‘Name the Bear’! The winning name and ticket was Ossie. We hope that Ossie is happy in it’s new home!
Host Sue and Zooey modelling the Bear from ‘Name the Bear’.
Juke Box finally took the stage and played another stonking set which included a few cover debuts.
The night closed with all the bands joining together on stage to play a set of crowd favourites.
Once again a big thank you to everyone that came and donated to the three wonderful charities. As Sue mentioned at the event, Cancer touches everyone, and the charities chosen help everyone affected by this undiscriminating disease.
Last but not least, special thanks to Terry and Jo Ann for organising, setting up and running the event, plus the Juke Box families for working hard behind the scenes.
Thank you and see you soon.
The evening was dedicated to the memory of Bob and Mick, members of our Uke family.
Essex Ukulele Society is proud to present Let’s Beat It, an evening of live music in aid of Cancer Research Uk, Macmillan Cancer Support and St Luke’s Hospice.
Please join us on the 22nd June for this wonderful event and raise some money for these great charities.
We’ll be joined by The Satellites and The Cool Ukes, so it’s an evening that’s not to be missed!
